  • Home Energy Performance LLC is a licensed and insured family owned company with 15+ years of experience in the Home Energy field. We work with large residential builders along with custom builders to ensure all new homes meet the standards and requirements for HERS Inspections, Energy Star Inspections, NGBS Ratings, and much more! We service all of Northern Virginia, Maryland, and District of Columbia. We are looking to expand our small business and bring on a new salaried employee to conduct on site energy inspections for various builders. No experience is necessary – we are willing to train from start to finish for the right candidate!

Job Description:

  • As a Home Energy Inspector, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the energy efficiency and sustainability of residential properties. This position is critical in the construction industry, where the demand for energy-saving solutions continues to rise. Your expertise will guide homeowners and builders in understanding their energy consumption and identifying areas for improvement. You will conduct thorough inspections of newly constructed homes, utilizing state-of-the-art tools and techniques to assess insulation, air sealing, ducts and other critical components that impact energy usage. You will also provide actionable recommendations to meet the requirements of different energy ratings, like HERS, Energy Star, and/or NGBS. This role demands a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous learning in the ever-evolving energy field.

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct thorough energy audits of residential properties to assess energy efficiency.
  • Evaluate the insulation, windows, and doors for air leakage and thermal performance.
  • Test Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems for efficiency and safety.
  • Identify energy-saving opportunities and provide detailed reports with recommendations using provided software.
  • Work closely with builders and supervisors to explain inspection processes and findings
  • Collaborate with contractors to recommend effective energy-efficient solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, energy codes, and best practices for energy efficiency.
  • Educate clients on the benefits of energy efficiency and how to implement recommended changes.

Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation and clean driving record. Able to work on job sites in Maryland, District of Columbia, and Northern Virginia
  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • Willing to become certified rater for HERS, NGBS, and Energy Star (company paid)
  • Able to communicate with supervisors for multiple communities via text, phone, and email.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively during inspections.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to evaluate energy performance.

  •       Mileage Reimbursement - $0.50 per mile driven between job sites
  •       Health Insurance Reimbursement – up to $500/month

  •       Base Salary starting at $52,000 per year
